Almost every successful person begins with two beliefs:
the future can be better than the present,
and I have the power to make it so.

About Me
I currently serve as a Battalion Chief with the City of Golden (CO), where I oversee training and special operations, as well as chair the Wildland Section of the Colorado State Fire Chiefs. My fire service career began in 2000, during which time I've been fortunate to serve in agencies in Pennsylvania, New York, Texas, and Colorado. I served for seven years as the Fire Chief for Estes Valley Fire Protection District, including during Cameron Peak, East Troublesome, and Kruger Mountain Fires. During that time I chaired the Volunteer & Combination Section of Colorado State Fire Chiefs. I also spent time with the Grand Fire and Grand Lake Fire Protection Districts as a shared Assistant Chief of Special Operations over their joint wildland and water rescue programs. I graduated the EMI Emergency Management Basic Academy and am credentialed as a Chief Fire Officer, Chief Training Officer, and Fire Marshal by the Center for Public Safety Excellence. I've taught for Colorado State University's (CSU) Fire & Emergency Service Administration (FESA) bachelor program since 2022.
Outside of the Fire Service, I completed a BS, MS, and PhD in Geology and spent six years as a research structural geologist. I live in Colorado with my wife, Danielle and two boys. We love spending time outdoors hiking, skiing, and fly fishing.
